Sarah Anker for NYS Senate
Candidate For New York State Senate District 1
“As a mother, community advocate, and a former Suffolk County Legislator, I continue to focus on making sure that government is responsive and accountable. As I have fought for my family, I will fight for yours.
We must put people over politics so we can focus on what really matters!” -Sarah
I am running for New York State Senate because Suffolk County voters want common sense solutions to the problems they’re facing every day. That’s why I’ll prioritize:
Affordability
Public Safety
Roads and Traffic
Clean Water
Open Space and Farmland Preservation
Addiction and Mental Health Resources
Notice what’s not on the list? Partisan extremism and infighting designed to score points on social media and cable news instead of delivering results for voters.
As a former Suffolk County Legislator, working across the political aisle, I :
Held the line on taxes by freezing the general fund, while opposing fee hikes.
Led workforce housing projects by partnering with communities to put housing and businesses near transportation hubs to help provide quality and affordable housing while boosting our local economy.
Fought crime and the drug epidemic by funding police and facilitating drug prevention and support programs.
Implemented the School Active Violence Emergency (SAVE) Hotline to improve police response time to school emergencies.
Created safer streets by repairing roads, adding stop lights and crossing guards near schools, and facilitating the North Shore Rail Trail that provides a safer alternative for pedestrians.
Protected our environment by acquiring thousands of acres of open space and farmland, cleaning up Long Island Sound, and investing in clean water infrastructure.
